East Memphis

East Memphis is known for the commercial and residential powerhouse, thriving businesses, tall buildings and large homes. The Walnut Grove area is home to some of the grandest houses in all of Memphis, and tourists are often seen just driving around and viewing the splendid homes. As East Memphis has no legal restrictions regarding the height of buildings beyond downtown, it is which is why it is home to the ominous Clark Tower.

East Memphis has a high concentration of various types of churches, which tend to be centered on Walnut Grove Road. The biggest churches are the Christ Church United Methodist with about 6,000 members, the St. Louis Catholic Church with approximately 5,000 members and the Second Presbyterian Church which brings in more than 4,800 members. Religious schools are also prominent in the East Memphis area.
