If you love performing music, you will really love creating it. Begin developing as a songwriter by understanding the fundamentals of writing a song through this deep dive 2-day workshop. Workshop cost is $125.

The workshop will focus on:
• Creating song content
• Writing lyrics and melodies
• Exploring styles and formats
• Copyrighting finished material
The students will also be introduced to the exciting world of Sync; how songwriters can get their songs on their favorite TV show. Students will complete this workshop with an original song and a solid foundation of tools to continue writing, information on copyrighting and joining performance rights organizations as well as a certification of completion. This “Intro to Songwriting” course will be a great beginning for blooming songwriters as they start their creative journey of songwriting.
This two-day Winter Songwriter Workshop will be taught by School of Rock’s own Missy Shackelford on December 27th and 28th. Missy has represented songwriters’ catalogs including Sam “The Sham” Samudio and Alfons Kettner and has licensed and placed music on BRAVO, HBO, NBC and others. The workshop will be held at the Memphis location (400 Perkins Ext.) from noon to 3pm each day and is open to all students as well as the general public AGES 12 - 18 ONLY.
