FedExFamilyHouse's mission is to be a haven of hope, healing and rest for out-of-town families who come to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital for treatment. Designed with families in mind and using "best practice” examples from sister institutions across the country, the facility offers a home-like setting with an open floor plan, gathering places for family groups, teens and children as well as secluded areas for quiet reflection. FedExFamilyHouse is LEED Gold certified and is one of the country's first sustainable, green pediatric residence facilities. LEED is the country's benchmark for green building design and construction.

Children and their families come from all over the U.S. and the world to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital for expert treatment. Each year, more than 2,500 families travel farther than 150 miles for Le Bonheur's services. Some come from thousands of miles away seeking very specialized care.

Most of these families find themselves without the support systems they depend on at home. Some are lucky enough to have extended family or friends join them. All of them want to stay as close as possible to their child.
