It's getting to be that time of year again, Memphis; that special time where Downtown Memphis turns into a month-long celebration of arts, culture, and more called Memphis in May.

Memphis in May will feature a series of great events taking place in Downtown Memphis throughout the month of, you guessed it, May.  These include the renowned Beale Street Music Festival, World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, and Autozone Sunset Symphony.

Memphis in May will kick off with the renowned Beale Street Music Festival taking place from Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5 at Tom Lee Park in Downtown Memphis.  The Beale Street Music Festival will feature three days of live music from artists including The Black Keys, Alice in Chains, Bassnectar, Hall and Oates, and more.  Single day tickets start at $35.

The festivities will continue with the 2013 World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest taking place May 16-18 at Tom Lee Park in Downtown Memphis.  Head out to enjoy some of the best barbecue in the world courtesy of over 250 barbecue teams that will be on hand.  Categories will include rib, whole hog, shoulder, and patio porkers with over $100,000 in cash prizes up for grabs.

Memphis in May will conclude with the 2013 Autozone Sunset Symphony taking place along the banks of the Mississippi River at Tom Lee Park on Saturday, May 25.  The Memphis Symphony Orchestra will began playing at 7:30 and the evening will end with a spectacular Fireworks show.  Tickets are on sale in advance for only $8.
